Melissa Mangiaracina

 

Melissa Mangiaracina was elected in June 2024 to replace Judge Tiras as the Incline Village - Crystal Bay Justice of the Peace when he retires in January 2025.

Melissa received her law degree from the University of Denver College of Law, where she graduated with honors. Melissa is licensed to practice law in Nevada (2005), California (2004) and Colorado (2003). Melissa is also formally trained in mediation and arbitration.

As an attorney, Melissa represented seniors, children in foster care, victims of family violence, and low-income individuals throughout Washoe County. In addition to her legal practice, Melissa has worked in several quasi-judicial roles, including as an Arbitrator, Administrative Hearing Officer, Mediator and Settlement Judge for the Nevada Supreme Court. Melissa also served as a Justice of the Peace Pro Tempore in the Incline Village – Crystal Bay Justice Court for eleven years prior to running for the bench.

Melissa has been sharing her love of the law and dispute resolution practices by training legal professionals since 2013. She spent five years at the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, where she provided training and technical assistance to judges and other legal professionals across the country and in Canada. In 2022, Melissa co-founded the Mediator Training Center, where she provides basic and advanced mediator training through in-person and on-demand classes. Melissa has also had the honor of serving as faculty for the American Bar Association, the Center for Court Innovation, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, the Nevada Supreme Court and Administrative Office of the Courts, and Washington State's Administrative Office of the Courts, among others.

Melissa first moved to Incline Village in 1998 and has proudly called Incline her home for over twenty years. When she is not in court or teaching, Melissa can usually be found hiking, biking, or skiing on the trails around Incline Village with her family and her dogs.
